Rustic Frame Look

I got this frame at a garage sale for really cheap a while back, thinking I could do something with it

I first painted it white
I let it dry and they took some rough gritted sand paper to the edges to make it look worn.

TWO easy steps!

Abby's Room!

As most of you know, I can be very particular about how my room is decorated.
I collect each of my items over time, therefore I treasure most everything I own.

The quilt: Given to me by my grandmother
The yellow throw: Meijer! (who would've thought)
The peacock tapestry: I had my eyes set on this for a while when I saw it at a resale shop in my hometown. Mom snagged it for me for Christmas!
The lanterns: I've been saving my money up and slowly purchasing them (these two are from World Market)

^ Here's my little corner where I make my metal jewelry pieces. (see a close-up)
The lamp: From my grandma
Jewelry box: goodwill
Necklace hooks: Urban Outfitters
Artwork: Mostly mine. The top left was made for me, from Adam Vass

Rusty Plant Stand Fix-Up

Here's where it began:
1. Obviously, I first had to "De-crustify" the stands. I used a paint scraper.
2. When all of the old, flaky paint is off, smooth it down with steel wool.
Here's what it should look like:
3. Add paint. I used a glossy Rustoleum brand paint.

Shelf Fix-Up

I got rescued this shelf from a friend who was otherwise going to get rid of it. There are multiple reasons why I wanted it so badly:

1. For this blog post
2. To give me an excuse to hang out with my dad
3. Well...I need a bookshelf.

So heres how the renovation process went:

1. Take off the knobs and wipe off the goo and the many years of accumulated dust and grime
2. Blast the living hell out of it with a sander (to smooth out the bumps and nicks)
3. Meanwhile, re-nail in the areas that are popping open to reinforce the sturdiness
4. Add a new coat of paint (this made a huge difference of course). I stuck with an off white... because it'll go in my house but, white also looks very clean and won't appear to take up a lot of space.
5. Add some knobs. I couldn't decide which ones to get so I got one colorful one for the center drawer and the more simple reds for the outer drawers. I also used the brass backs on the old knobs to keep some of the shelfs spunk.

Once I find the picture of the final product, I'll post. Also, I'm sure this gem will show up in another post once it moves into my new space!
