Pastel Love:Chicago Apartment

As you may have noticed Simply Thrifty is a sucker for pastels and unique, handmade projects.

Meet Abbi: Her tiny, one bedroom apartment lies in Chicago's Logan Square.

Her building shows character in its warped wood floors, cracked walls and thick crown molding.

I documented her space with a focus on her DIY constructions and thrifty finds, her use of color palette and her design taste- which ironically reflects her character and lifestyle.

Abbi is best known for her music and booking shows for other bands. Check her out!

Lets start with the most bad ass area of her home. The mural above her fireplace is constructed out of broken pieces of mirror. She admits to being prone to braking mirrors...

She decided one day, to embrace these broken glass shards and constructed this mural!
The fact that I admire people who can make something out of nothing, makes her the perfect candidate for this blog post.

This same color palette is repeated on the opposite side of the room: Pinks, turqouise, plus added pops of color with the vibrantly, colorful pillows (which were given to her by a friend) make a rather pleasing statement.

And the coaches were thrifted- A definite money saver!

Above, we see her cozy dining area, mostly comprised of her thrift finds and things that were given to her.
Abbi's love for art and creating art is also reflected here, displayed on the wall as the focal point of the room.

There are continuous splashes of textiles throughout the house-the floor rug reflecting her Indian background, for example, the design on the pillows as well as the patterns in the wall art.
